The rally

The Antwerp-Banjul Challenge, which starts on October 3rd, 2009, aims to gather funds for selected good causes in Gambia. We’ve chosen to support this project, which provides Gambian women with micro-credit to help start their own businesses.

The concept:
Also often called “the alternative Dakar Rally”, the concept behind the Antwerpen-Banjul rally is to buy/organize a second-hand car or motorbike with which to travel the almost 7000 kilometer (of which a part goes through the Sahara desert!) to Banjul, the capital of Gambia. Once there, the car is donated to a project chosen by the team. In our case, we will donate the proceeds of the auction of our car to “project 15″, which provides Gambian women with micro-credit to start their own businesses. During our research of which projects we wanted to support, we also came across “project 21″ which aims to set up a school with facilities for blind & deaf children. As this project is specifically looking for braille equipment and other audio visual aids, we’ve also decided to try to obtain any equipment they may be able to use and take it along to Gambia with us. If you can help us in any way, please contact us on info (at) musecommunication (dot) com.
